PAN Builder software by Egenera provides the core PAN Manager features used to configure, control and monitor infrastructure resources, including physical servers, virtual servers, storage and networks. With PAN Builder, you can provision servers, automate actions based on system state changes, and allocate applications when and where you need them. PAN Builder seamleslly integrates virtual machine technology, providing integrated support for virtual servers.
PAN Builder provides the following management features:
- On-demand server provisioning creates an abstract server definition which encapsulates the runtime environment for each application service
- Server repurposing allows you to reassign applications to physical or virtual servers in minutes
- Event monitoring watches resource utilization within the PAN system and automatically invokes user-defined actions in response to state changes
- Chargeback collects system utilization data for each application, including CPU, storage, network, and fabric utilization
- Administrative security enables you to create and enforce administrative security domains and to populate those domains with PAN resources
You can choose to automate all or part of PAN Manager’s infrastructure orchestration services. PAN Builder offers a reliable policy management feature that lets you define the conditions that will trigger a recovery action. For example, you can specify application restart, application failover, or an ordered combination of the two.
