Egenera Named SAP Global Technology Partner

Achieves Certification for Egenera BladeFrame System

Marlboro, Mass.—September 13, 2005—Egenera Inc., today announced that it has been named an SAP Global Technology Partner, a distinction reserved for leading technology companies with significant market share in their industries. Egenera joins the prestigious ranks of only 24 other suppliers worldwide (http://www.sap.com/partners/directories/technology.epx). In addition, the company announced that the Egenera® BladeFrame® system has been certified by AddOn Systemhaus GmbH, which performs hardware certifications for SAP® solutions on Microsoft® platforms under contract to SAP, to run SAP solution-based systems on the Microsoft Windows® Server 2003 operating system.

SAP's Global Technology Partners are pivotal vendors that work jointly with SAP to deliver vital solutions for customers' enterprise IT environments. Key terms of the agreement include coordination of worldwide marketing and technical-support activities as well as ongoing certification to optimize the performance of SAP solutions deployed on Egenera technology.

"Egenera is the first enterprise hardware provider in more than 10 years to earn designation as an SAP Global Technology Partner," noted Bob Dutkowsky, chairman, president and CEO, Egenera. "We're gratified to be joining such companies as IBM, HP and Sun on this prestigious list, and look forward to collaboration with SAP in support of our joint customers."

Egenera BladeFrame Certified for SAP Solutions on Windows Server 2003

Certification of the Egenera BladeFrame system assures customers that SAP applications have been rigorously tested on the platform, enabling them to confidently reap the combined benefits of solutions from Egenera and SAP. The Egenera BladeFrame offers important advantages—including reduced complexity, server consolidation, virtualization, scalability, high availability and disaster recovery—at quantifiable reductions in total cost of ownership and time to market. This value proposition goes well beyond those of other blade servers, as evidenced by hundreds of mission-critical Egenera BladeFrame implementations.

"As a current user of solutions from both SAP and Egenera, FreshDirect has been a strong proponent of this alliance," said Myles Trachtenberg, CTO, FreshDirect. "We are excited by the opportunity to run SAP applications on our Egenera BladeFrame systems."

"Combining SAP solutions with the Egenera BladeFrame running Windows Server 2003 offers enterprise customers a robust, proven alternative to UNIX," said Claus Jul Christiansen, SAP Global Alliance Manager, Microsoft Corporation. "Microsoft is pleased to be part of this value-driven platform designed to meet the needs of world-class datacenters."
