Egenera Inc. to Speak and Exhibit at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo

Marlboro, Mass.—February 9, 2005—Egenera Inc, a global leader in utility computing, announced today that it will demonstrate the Egenera® BladeFrame® system in booth No. 115 at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, being held at The Hynes Convention Center, Boston, Mass., from February 14 - 17, 2005.

For dynamic enterprises that have built up complex, static and underutilized IT infrastructure that stifles agility, the Egenera BladeFrame system radically simplifies the datacenter and reduces operational complexity to support a highly responsive business. Unlike legacy vendors, Egenera has produced a new server architecture-proven in mission-critical environments—that liberates the power of the datacenter, allowing customers to scale, increase performance, virtually provision workloads, and attach to networks and storage more efficiently.

A live demonstration will highlight the BladeFrame system's utility computing and virtualization capabilities by automatically repurposing servers across applications based on service-level agreements and failover requirements. Solutions from BEA, Network Appliance and Oracle will be showcased in the Egenera exhibit.

Several members of the Egenera Accelerate alliance program—including AMD, booth no. 601; Intel, booth no. 1401; Novell/SUSE, booth no. 315; and Red Hat, booth no. 301—will also feature Egenera technology.

In conjunction with Egenera's broad presence on the show floor, Company founder and chief technology officer, Vern Brownell, will moderate a LinuxWorld Conference panel—"Linux in the Datacenter: Enquiring Minds Want to Know"—on February 16 at 9:15 a.m. Brownell will be joined by IT executives from Cambridge Health Alliance and Fresh Direct, who will share successful strategies for offsetting the high cost of proprietary UNIX. Attendees will hear first-hand how these companies transformed their enterprise datacenters and lowered total cost of ownership; how Linux was adopted within their organizations; the challenges and pitfalls they faced during implementation; and, most importantly, how they saved time and resources.
