The Egenera PAN System Administration Course provides students with the core skills and knowledge needed to administer Processing Area Networks (PAN). The focus is on building functional and feature-rich pServers, putting to use the advanced features of the BladeFrame environment.
- Egenera BladeFrame product and virtualization concepts
- Creating and configuring LPANs
- Creating, installing and operating Windows Server 2003 pServers
- Creating, installing and operating Red Hat Linux pServers
- Configuring pServers for automated hardware failover
- Configuring application health monitoring and high-availability.
- Event Monitoring and notification in the PAN.
- Configuring and testing PAN disaster recovery or repurposing through PAN Archives.
To best prepare students for real-world BladeFrame environments:
- Instructor-led Lecture-Discussion-Demonstration
- Nearly all major procedures supported through hands-on practice on actual Egenera equipment (not simulations).
- Major procedures are re-emphasized through end-of class summary exercise.
- Those who operate, support, install, or administer the BladeFrame environment.
- Those who wish to learn more about the BladeFrame environment.
Students attending this course should have experience in the following areas:
- General understanding of datacenter infrastructure, server architecture and networking.
- Practical experience installing and administering Linux or Windows-based operating systems.
