Description:
The Egenera PAN System Administration Course provides students with the core skills and knowledge needed to administer Processing Area Networks (PAN).  The focus is on building functional and feature-rich pServers, putting to use the advanced features of the BladeFrame environment.

Topics:

  • Egenera BladeFrame product and virtualization concepts  
  • Creating and configuring LPANs  
  • Creating, installing and operating Windows Server 2003 pServers  
  • Creating, installing and operating Red Hat Linux pServers  
  • Configuring pServers for automated hardware failover  
  • Configuring application health monitoring and high-availability.  
  • Event Monitoring and notification in the PAN.  
  • Configuring and testing PAN disaster recovery or repurposing through PAN Archives.

Training Methodology:
To best prepare students for real-world BladeFrame environments:

  • Instructor-led Lecture-Discussion-Demonstration  
  • Nearly all major procedures supported through hands-on practice on actual Egenera equipment (not simulations).  
  • Major procedures are re-emphasized through end-of class summary exercise.

Intended Audience:

  • Those who operate, support, install, or administer the BladeFrame environment.  
  • Those who wish to learn more about the BladeFrame environment.

Prerequisite Skills:
Students attending this course should have experience in the following areas:   

  • General understanding of datacenter infrastructure, server architecture and networking.  
  • Practical experience installing and administering Linux or Windows-based   operating systems.
