Pete Manca: President and CEO
Leading Egenera as President and CEO, Pete Manca brings over 25 years' experience in enterprise computing and business development, with expertise in a wide range of mission-critical enterprise data center technologies.
Previously as CTO and EVP of Engineering, Manca led product planning by working directly with customers to understand their most difficult challenges and guide Egenera's engineering teams to translate those requirements into solutions. In particular, his leadership and experience in virtualization technologies has led to the continued progression of Egenera's advanced PAN (Processing Area Network) architecture and was instrumental in setting the strategy for Egenera’s software business, acting as general manager for this business unit for the past 2 years.
Prior to Egenera, Manca served as Vice President of Engineering at Hitachi Computer Products America with responsibility for operating systems and enterprise middleware products—contributing to the development of the world's then-fastest commercial supercomputer. While a Software Engineer with Encore Computer, he began cultivating his specialty in distributed operating systems as a member of the team that built the first commercial system based on MACH technology. He has also held senior engineering and management positions with Prime Computer and Racal Interlan.
Manca holds bachelor of science and master of science degrees in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), where he has taught operating systems and networking at the graduate level.
Al Lanzetta: Executive Vice President of Operations and Worldwide Services
With a wealth of knowledge and experience from over 30 years in operations, finance, manufacturing and customer service, Al Lanzetta leads Egenera's Operations and Services on a global basis.
Lanzetta joined Egenera from EMC Corporation, where he served as Vice President of Global Field Operations and Field Support for EMC Global Services guiding a worldwide staff of 3,000 professionals responsible for customer service field operations, field support, logistics and contracts administration. Prior to this, he was Vice President of Global Customer Service for the Data General division of EMC, directing the worldwide activities of a $250 million profit center and exceeding targets for customer satisfaction and revenue. Earlier, Lanzetta was Vice President of the Manufacturing Services Division and Repairiion Unit for Data General Corporation, where he created a business that marketed and sold repair and logistics services to third parties. During his career at Data General, Lanzetta held positions ranging from Corporate Manufacturing Controller to Director of the Manufacturing Services Division.
After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Lanzetta earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Clark University and a master of business administration degree from Babson College.
Kevin Kerrigan: SVP, Finance and CFO
Kevin Kerrigan brings over a decade of financial leadership experience to Egenera. As Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Secretary and Treasurer, Kerrigan oversees Egenera’s global finance and legal operations.
Prior to Egenera, Kerrigan served as Vice President of Financial Reporting at First Marblehead, a financial services company that provides outsourcing services for private, non-governmental, education lending in the United States. During his tenure, he was a key member of the leadership that managed the company through significant growth as a new public company. Prior to First Marblehead, Kerrigan was the principal financial and accounting officer at Diacrin (acquired by GenVec), a publicly traded biotechnology company. He has also held positions in the audit divisions of Ernst & Young LLP and Price Waterhouse LLP, serving most recently as manager.
Kerrigan has been a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts since 1996. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. He received a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from Merrimack College and a Masters in Taxation degree from Northeastern University.
Scott Geng: SVP, Engineering
As Senior Vice President, Engineering, Scott Geng has more than 20 years' experience managing and designing software for mission-critical environments. He has deep experience in operating systems, distributed computing, clustering, high availability and middleware technologies. Geng has been instrumental in the design and development of Egenera's PAN Manager architecture and has led the Egenera software team in delivering each release since the Company was founded.
Prior to joining Egenera, Geng managed the development of leading-edge operating systems and middleware products for Hitachi Computer Products, including development of the operating system for the world's then-fastest commercial supercomputer and the first industry-compliant Enterprise JavaBeans Server. Geng has also held senior technical positions at IBM, where he served as advisory programmer and team leader in bringing UNIX to the mainframe; The Open Software Foundation, where he served as consulting engineer for the OSF/1 1.3 micro-kernel release; and Wang Laboratories, as principle engineer for the base kernel and member of the architectural review board.
Geng holds bachelor of arts and master of science degrees in computer science from Boston University
Jim Ryan: SVP, Sales
Jim Ryan currently leads Egenera's worldwide sales force. Ryan joined Egenera as the leader of Asia Pacific operations. Since that time, Ryan's responsibilities have increased to include managing the sales teams in Japan, APAC and the United States, before he assumed global sales responsibilities.
Prior to Egenera, Ryan worked at Lucent Technologies/Octel, Excel Switching Corp, Telemedia and Argent Networks. He received his Bachelors Degree from Harvard University and his Masters Degree from Osaka University in Japan.
Ken Oestreich: VP, Product Marketing
Ken Oestreich brings to Egenera over twenty years of market-focused experience in the enterprise IT infrastructure space. As Vice President of Marketing, he leverages his deep knowledge of data center ecosystems, the needs of today’s IT managers, and tomorrow’s dynamic data center operations requirements to build Egenera’s leadership position in this fast growing market segment.
Prior to Egenera, Oestreich led Product Marketing at Cassatt Corp. (acquired by CA) where he defined the market for data center automation, utility computing and internal cloud computing. Previously, he held a number of positions at Sun Microsystems, including business management for an incubator unit, coordinating Java and software strategy, consortium creation and driving Developer Marketing, and helped create the market for online web-aware secure identity.
Oestreich speaks frequently on data-center and cloud-computing topics, and is a frequent blogger on the Fountainhead. Oestreich holds a BSE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia University.
Chris Hill: VP, Human Resources
Chris Hill is responsible for the design and management of Egenera’s global HR programs. He brings over 20 years of innovative Human Resources management experience.
Prior to Egenera, Hill held a HR leadership role at RSA Security, where he lead the development and implementation of key programs in the compensation, benefits, equity and HR technology areas. He played a key role in a number of acquisitions and the eventual acquisition of RSA by EMC. Prior to RSA Security he held key HR roles at Sycamore Networks, TASC, and BTU International.
Hill holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Merrimack College.
