Cambridge Health Alliance Transforms IT Infrastructure to Enhance Patient Experience, Control Healthcare Costs and Improve Service Levels

Healthcare System to Use Egenera’s PAN Manager to Manage HP Converged Infrastructure

BOXBOROUGH, MA – September 19, 2012Egenera, a pioneer in converged infrastructure management and automation, announced today that Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) has selected and deployed Egenera’s PAN Manager software in support of CHA’s transformative Accountable Care Organization (ACO) initiative.

CHA is a fully integrated healthcare system serving Cambridge, Somerville and Boston’s metro-north communities. ACO, designed to improve the health of individuals and communities across the CHA care network, includes specific IT objectives to improve service levels and control health services costs. Egenera’s PAN Manager provides a data center management and disaster recovery solution allowing CHA to meet their internal service level requirements, quality of service and cost targets.

“The work to transform and modernize our data system and IT infrastructure is important and meaningful and will allow us to serve our patients today, tomorrow and in the future,” said Steve Doherty, Director of Linux Systems at CHA. “Egenera was the natural partner for us as we looked into building out one single unified disaster recovery solution for our critical healthcare services. PAN Manager provides the scale to support our future growth – including a possible VDI environment for the CHA desktop environment.”

By converging infrastructure into a unified and stateless compute fabric, PAN Manager simplifies the IT management processes and provides provisioning, high availability and disaster recovery services for both bare metal and virtual servers. This includes the ability to automatically discover fabric elements, create a comprehensive inventory of IT resources, manage network and storage connections, IO and uplinks, and isolate resources through multi-tenant zoning to ensure secure access for different departments or individual customers.

“We are happy to be partnering with CHA to develop a solution to modernize their data center,” said Scott Harris, VP of Services at Egenera. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with CHA and assist them in growing their business, realize their ACO vision and leverage their IT resources to deliver patient excellence.”
