Egenera® BladeFrame® EX Chassis Specifications
The BladeFrame EX chassis, which is the size of a standard data center rack, houses the system's Processing Blades, Control Blades EX and Switch Blades EX. It also contains the built-in Egenera BladePlaneTM EX, which provides the physical connectivity for Processing Blade I/O, network communication and power distribution. In conjunction with Control Blades EX and Switch Blades EX, the chassis replaces the Fibre Channel switches, Gigabit Ethernet switches and power connections required by traditional server architectures.
The BladeFarm feature enables the management of multiple BladeFrame EX systems from a single console. This capability extends Egenera's N+1 high availability model, improving the flexibility and efficiency of failover pools and further reducing the cost of providing backup resources. In addition, clustered applications can draw incremental processing capacity from any Processing Blade in the BladeFarm.
