-Egenera, Inc., Joins IBM PartnerWorld for Developers Program-
Marlboro, Mass.-November 6, 2001- Egenera, Inc., an emerging leader in data center infrastructure, today announced that the integration between its PAN ManagerTM software and the Tivoli Enterprise Console has been certified by IBM. Certification ensures customers that the EgeneraTM BladeFrameTM system can be monitored from the Tivoli application. In conjunction with this milestone, Egenera has gained entry into the IBM PartnerWorld for Developers program.
"Manageability and openness are hallmarks of the BladeFrame, creating a foundation for many of the time-to-market and total-cost-of-ownership advantages our system delivers," explained Susan Davis, vice president of product marketing and management, Egenera. "Consistent with our proactive commitment to not only meet but anticipate customer requirements, Egenera began work on a Tivoli integration during the development phase of our flagship product. As a result, customers can immediately integrate the BladeFrame into an existing data center management framework without disrupting their day-to-day operations."
The Egenera BladeFrame and its Processing Area Network (PAN) architecture deliver a new approach to computing by consolidating and simplifying the allocation and management of processing capacity. Purpose-built for large enterprises and service providers with mission-critical applications, the patent-pending technology integrates hardware, software, networking and services to resolve major data center pain points from a single platform. The system creates a pool of up to 96 server-class Intel® processors on 24 Egenera Processing BladeTM resources that are deployable entirely through Egenera PAN Manager software. Thus, processing power can be dynamically increased, decreased and reallocated to support new applications or accommodate variable demand on existing applications without purchasing, installing or managing incremental equipment.
In conjunction with BladeFrame Release 1.1, PAN Manager software has achieved foundation-level integration with Tivoli Enterprise. Egenera has customized a predefined Tivoli Enterprise Console (TEC) SNMP adapter to collect BladeFrame SNMP trap messages, convert them to Tivoli-formatted events, and send them to the TEC event server-enabling a Tivoli administrator to monitor BladeFrame events from the TEC event console.
