-PAN Manager Software Delivers High Availability while Reducing Data Center Footprint-
MARLBORO, Mass. — January 27, 2009 — Egenera, Inc. today announced that One Call Medical (OCM), the leading specialized Preferred Provider Organization, has implemented the Egenera® solution to ensure high availability for immediate access to critical patient data residing in Oracle databases. PAN Manager® software by Egenera allows One Call Medical to quickly provision new servers and manage all data center resources through a single easy to use tool.
Headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, OCM is consolidating its legacy systems to create a more cost-efficient, highly-available infrastructure that supports expanding data loads and traffic. PAN Manager’s built-in redundancy allows OCM to pre-configure and store a full system and deploy a new server on-the-fly to meet evolving business requirements.
“Our legacy systems were over-subscribed, which caused us to purchase additional servers,” said Jim Sullivan, Director of Network Operations at One Call Medical. “With PAN Manager, we have adopted a utility computing approach and can now re-allocate existing servers. The Egenera solutions helped us reduce the number of physical servers from 65 to 24.”
About the Egenera Solution
Egenera systems are highly available, flexible platforms that eliminate the need to rigidly dedicate physical or virtual servers to applications. Instead, Egenera’s patented Processing Area Network (PAN) infrastructure orchestration software automatically repurposes and reallocates virtual and physical servers on demand, with high availability and full disaster recovery.
Available on multiple hardware platforms including Egenera’s own integrated BladeFrame® system, PAN Manager software by Egenera is an infrastructure orchestration solution leader in unifying virtual and physical infrastructure management. Customers worldwide standardize on PAN Manager’s reliable virtualized architecture, which is based on industry standards and supports popular hypervisors, SANs and server platforms. PAN Manager eliminates data center complexity to reduce operational and capital expenditures by up to 70 percent. The result for customers is a dramatic improvement in the flexibility, agility and economics of IT infrastructure through a reduction in data center complexity.
